Frequently asked questions.

Everything we get asked about pool service in the East Bay. If your question isn't here, email us at hello@diablopoolservices.com.

How much does pool service cost in Danville?

Diablo Pool Services offers three tiers: Essential at $249/month for pools up to 18,000 gallons with no spa, Premium at $349/month for pools up to 25,000 gallons with spa (our most popular plan), and Estate at $449/month for larger pools with water features. All plans include weekly service, photo-verified reports, and chemicals.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Danville (94506 and 94526), Alamo (94507), Blackhawk, Diablo, Tassajara Valley, The Bridges, and San Ramon (94582). We do not currently serve outside these ZIP codes.

How often will you service my pool?

Every plan includes weekly service, 52 weeks a year. The Estate plan includes twice-weekly service during peak season (May through September). After each visit, you receive a photo-verified report within 2 hours via text or email.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Diablo Pool Services is fully insured with general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Our California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) C-61/D-35 license is in process.

Do you include chemicals in the monthly price?

Yes. All standard pool chemicals — chlorine, acid, stabilizer, balancing chemicals — are included in the monthly service fee. Specialty chemicals (algaecide for severe blooms, metal sequestrants, phosphate removers) are included in the Estate plan; in the Essential and Premium plans they are billed at cost only when needed.

How quickly will you respond if something breaks?

Premium plan customers get a 48-hour diagnostic response on equipment issues. Estate plan customers get same-day diagnostic response. Essential plan customers get scheduled diagnostic within 5 business days.

Can I see what my technician actually did each week?

Yes — this is the core differentiator of Diablo Pool Services. After every visit, you receive 5 photos (pool condition, equipment, chemistry test strip, surroundings, after-service) plus a written chemistry reading, delivered to your phone within 2 hours of service.

How do I get started?

Book a free 20-minute pool assessment at diablopoolservices.com or call us. A lead technician will visit your property, run a full chemistry panel, and give you a written assessment with recommendations. If we're a fit, we start service the following week. No obligation.

Do you service saltwater pools?

Yes. Saltwater pool chemistry is slightly different from chlorine pools — saltwater systems still require chemistry balancing, salt cell inspection, and occasional acid washes. Our Premium plan includes salt cell inspection; the Estate plan includes salt cell cleaning and replacement planning.

Do you handle pool equipment repair?

Yes. Every plan includes equipment diagnostics. We handle pump, filter, heater, automation, and salt cell repairs directly. Major equipment replacement (new heater, new pump motor) is billed separately at transparent parts + labor rates with your approval.

What happens if I'm traveling and something goes wrong?

We monitor your pool regardless. If something is off during a weekly visit while you're traveling, we send you photos and a text-based update within 2 hours. You can approve repairs remotely. This is one of the most common reasons Danville homeowners switch to us.

Will my chemistry be different from my current service?

Usually yes. We maintain pools at the CDC-recommended chemistry ranges (chlorine 2-4 ppm, pH 7.4-7.6, alkalinity 80-120 ppm, calcium hardness 200-400 ppm, cyanuric acid 30-50 ppm). Many older operators run looser ranges to save on chemicals. You'll see the difference in water clarity and in irritation-free swimming.

What's the difference between your weekly photo report and just a door hanger?

A door hanger says 'we were here.' A Diablo Pool Services photo report shows you your pool condition (skim/brush/vacuum quality), your equipment state, your chemistry strip reading, and any issues we flagged. It's auditable proof of service and a running record of your pool's health over time.

Do I sign a long-term contract?

No. All plans are month-to-month. You can cancel any time with 30 days notice. We earn the relationship every month — that's the only way this business works long-term.

How is billing handled?

Monthly recurring billing via ACH (preferred, 1% fee) or credit card (2.9% + 30¢). You set up billing on the Jobber customer portal once and it runs automatically. Chemicals and repairs are billed separately via the same portal.

Do you service pools in HOAs like Blackhawk Country Club?

Yes. We service private residential pools within HOAs including Blackhawk Country Club, The Bridges, Alamo Highlands, and others. We do not service HOA community pools — only private residential pools owned by homeowners within those communities.

What makes Diablo Pool Services different from Leslie's or a national chain?

Three things: (1) We're local, single-operator owned and run — no franchise pressure to upsell you chemicals you don't need. (2) Photo-verified reports after every single visit — no national chain does this. (3) Response time — we answer the phone within 30 seconds and respond to equipment issues within 48 hours.

Can I see a sample weekly report before signing up?

Yes. Email us at hello@diablopoolservices.com and we'll send you a redacted sample report from one of our current customers (with permission). You'll see the format, the chemistry data, the photos, and the level of detail.
